A wiki is a way for many different users to collaborate on cataloguing, evaluating and storing useful information in one central place.

The most famous wiki is the Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia edited and written by its users. The Wikipedia is huge, user-generated encyclopedia that anyone can access online.

The Blogs United Wiki works in much the same way but on a much smaller scale. The Blogs United Wiki is focused on blogging and, in particular, information relevant to local and regional progressive political bloggers. The goal is to pool information and resources so that bloggers can find useful information they want and need quickly and without reinventing the wheel.

The easiest way to get your head around a wiki is to think of it this way: wikis are made up of entries. A wiki entry is basically a way to store information that can be edited and updated by users.

A wiki entry can be about a particular topic: XML.

A wiki entry can be about a particular set of information: Blogs United Member Directory.

A wiki entry can be a place to storehouse useful links: Useful How-To Blog Posts.

A wiki entry can serve as a directory to a topic: Progressive Blog Communities.

Wiki entries can teach How-To and they can answer frequently asked questions. (ie. serve as a FAQ).

To use this wiki, all you have to do is to read and click on the links of topics that interest you. It's that simple.

However, if you'd like to take it one step further, all Blogs United participants can update the information here by creating a new entry or editing an entry that's already in place.
